Derisking the Seafood Supply Chain: Animal Welfare
The Global Shrimp Forum will host an exclusive session for retail and foodservice leaders from around the world. This provides a trusted and collaborative environment to explore pre-competitive solutions to the social and environmental challenges that no company can tackle alone. During this year's session we will focus on animal welfare through shared learning, dialogue, and collective exploration.
Animal welfare is rapidly rising on the seafood retail agenda. NGO scrutiny, increased media attention, and evolving stakeholder expectations are intensifying pressure on companies across key markets. As retailers make commitments to practices such as humane slaughter and ending eyestalk ablation, producing companies face significant challenges related to implementation, traceability, supply chain readiness, and potential reputational risks.
The session will combine expert presentations with facilitated discussions among invited participants. Together, we will deepen our collective understanding of the issues, share experiences and challenges, and explore opportunities for collaborative business action. The goal is to advance practical, science-based, and implementable approaches that support meaningful progress across the industry.
