Ensuring Healthy Shrimp: Navigating Market Demand and Responsible Practices

To successfully market shrimp, producers must prioritize the health of their stock while adhering to industry standards and consumer expectations. Globally, consumers are increasingly concerned about antibiotic use in aquaculture, leading retailers to implement stringent policies against antibiotic-treated shrimp.

This session aims to provide buyers with an updated perspective on industry trends, focusing on maintaining shrimp health without resorting to irresponsible antibiotic treatments. Melanie Sellars from Genics will offer insights into prevalent diseases and emerging trends within the industry. Representatives from TipTopp, Dalan, and Salem Microbes will discuss innovative alternatives to antibiotics, highlighting sustainable practices for disease prevention. The session will conclude with a dialogue between a retailer and a producer, reflecting on the future direction of the shrimp industry.
