Ukida Akiyoshi began his career in 1995 as a seafood news reporter with Minato News in Yamaguchi, later moving to Tokyo where he covered the Fisheries Agency, Tsukiji (now Toyosu) Market, and major seafood companies. He went on to lead regional operations in Hokkaido and Osaka, reporting across fisheries, processing, trade, and retail while interviewing senior industry leaders.
In 2016, he joined the head office, serving as Editor-in-Chief before becoming Head of the Minato News Division. In this role, he oversees editorial and commercial activities and leads initiatives such as industry-focused online seminars. He currently focuses on delivering seafood news and market insights on Japan and Russia to a global audience, with particular expertise in frozen seafood sectors including crab and surimi.
