
Gerardo Tome is the Co-Founder and CEO of ESF Seafood, a value-added shrimp processor based out of Honduras. Over the course of his career of over 38 years, he has served as Director and CEO of various integrated shrimp operations in Latam. His work and
partnership with his US based partners have always focused on sustainability, inclusion, ethical investments, and value-added products with a customer centered focus. This includes the first Latam “cooked at source” operation for a major European retailer 30 years ago, original genetic research on P. Vannamei in the late 1990’s, and in-depth discussions with various organizations on mangrove conservation in the early 90’s. Gerardo holds a bachelor’s degree in International Economics from Yale University, and an MBA in International Finance from the Wharton Business School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is based out of Central America, where he focuses on developing an ethical and sustainable shrimp industry that has generated thousands of jobs in these communities.
