Climate Summit

A silhouette of mangroves during the golden hour (by Alexey Demidov)
Scope /

Following the success of last year’s climate-focused discussion, this expanded session explores new research and actionable strategies to help the shrimp industry reduce its carbon footprint and build a more resilient supply chain. Roxanne Nanninga and Anton Immink will introduce the newly released Shrimp Carbon Guide, highlighting key areas for collaboration and innovation in carbon reduction. Laurence Massaut of BioMar will share emerging research on methane emissions from shrimp ponds—an area of growing concern. The conversation will then shift to finance, as Darian McBain presents both established and emerging financial tools that can support climate-smart investments. A panel discussion will follow, featuring value chain leaders already putting these tools into practice, including Joseph Keating, Agriculture and Fisheries Manager at Coop, and Gerardo Tome, CEO of ESF Seafoods.
