Krzysztof Wojtas, PhD

Krzysztof Wojtas leads the Shrimp Welfare Project, a global initiative working to raise welfare standards in shrimp farming. The organisation focuses on helping producers in Southeast Asia and Latin America adopt higher welfare practices, with a main focus on humane slaughter, primarily by providing specialised equipment and technical guidance. Prior to joining Shrimp Welfare Project, Krzysztof worked on fish welfare policy at Compassion in World Farming and Eurogroup for Animals, contributing to aquaculture initiatives at the EU level. He holds a PhD in fish welfare from the Wrocław University of Life Sciences, where he conducted research on aquatic animal welfare.
