In 2025, the Global Shrimp Forum Foundation announced that surplus funds from the 2024 event would be used to commission 100% Shrimp: Full Utilisation—an industry report exploring how shrimp processing by-products can be better utilised to unlock new sources of value.
Authored by seafood sustainability expert Melanie Siggs and developed in collaboration with Kontali and a small group of technical expert advisors, the report examines how materials currently considered waste could be transformed into inputs for food, feed, nutraceutical, and other applications.
Set against ongoing margin pressure across the shrimp industry, 100% Shrimp: Full Utilisation is intended as a starting point rather than a technical manual. It maps the opportunity, highlights existing and emerging use cases, and identifies the structural, technical, and commercial challenges that must be addressed to realise full utilisation at scale.
Rather than prescribing solutions, the report is designed to stimulate thinking and encourage further research, collaboration, and investment across the value chain. Its aim is to help industry stakeholders explore what “100% Shrimp” could mean in practice, and where collective action could unlock the greatest impact.
